SFDSClass Of 1973
Reunion
The St. Francis de Sale Grad-
uation Class of 1973 held a class
reunion on July 30, 2016. After
a 5:30 pm Mass celebrated by
classmate Fr. Peter Rayder, the
celebration continued at the
Belle Harbor Yacht Club where
these classmates enjoyed dinner,
live music, plenty of laughs and
memories.When’s the next one?!
Prep For Poseidon!
Get your costumes and
floats ready: The second an-
nual Poseidon's Parade is
kicking off this year on Satur-
day, September 17 at 12 p.m.
The parade starts on the
boardwalk at Beach 106th
Street and runs to the Beach
94th Street plaza, where the
"Under the Sea" lounge will
feature children's activities, a
DJ and our awards ceremony
following the parade.
There are new award cate-
gories this year that encour-
age people to get creative
with their family, friends and
neighbors.
They will be awarding tro-
phies in the following cate-
gories: Best block, best apart-
ment building, best group:
children, best group: adult,
best bar or restaurant, best
bike, best baby carriage, best
individual marcher, best pet,
best use of recycled materials
and best overall float.
They are also hosting a con-
test for children ten years and
under to send in a sea-in-
spired drawing for this year's
children's t-shirt. We'll select
the winner some time after
Labor Day and display other
entries in the "Under the Sea"
lounge during the parade.
Last year's parade was a
beautiful celebration of the
Rockaway community, the
ocean and summer. Get ready
to wow the peninsula with
your creativity!
Registration is between $5
and $10 and will begin Mon-
day, August 1 with more in-
formation on their website,
PoseidonsParade.Com.
