Dear Editor –
I just read, former Chief of Transit, Joe Fox’s recent Letter to the Editor (10-7-21) regarding the importance of voting on November 2 and to VOTE for candidates who will turn our city around such as Joann Ariola (New York City Council District 32) and others like her. I’d like to add that this election is especially important as there are five New York State constitutional amendments on the ballot.
Proposals 1, 3, and 4 deal with voting. BALLOT PROPOSALS: 1). AN AMENDMENT Amending the Apportionment and Redistricting Process; 2). AN AMENDMENT Right to clean air, clean water, and a helpful environment; 3). AN AMENDMENT Eliminating Ten-Day-Advance Voter Registration Requirement; 4). AN AMENDMENT Authorizing No-Excuse Absentee Ballot Voting; 5). AN AMENDMENT Increasing the Jurisdiction of the New York City civil court.
I wonder why such important proposals are put on a ballot in an off-year election with no statewide races, especially when low voter turnout is expected. Have your voice heard - Vote. Otherwise, don’t complain.
