On Wednesday, July 2, Father Jim of St. Francis de Sales called to say that a shipment of Fresh Direct boxes arranged by Borough President Sharon Lee was on the way to St. Francis. The Angels were out delivering the Grab and Go meals once again, and this shipment was unexpected.

The next generation, the kids at St. Francis parish stepped up to the plate. They dropped what they were doing at a moment’s notice and came to the church to help bring the boxes inside. “We thank them for going above and beyond,” the Angels said in a press release.

The next day, under the direction of Jeanette M. Garramone, her Angels team delivered the boxes to those in need. The Angels included Jeremy Bucuria, Judy Emiliano, Jean Hammel, Maryann Neilen and Barbara Nobel. “God bless Father Jim and Father Bill,” the press release added.

The Angels deliver Grab and Go meals to seniors and the disabled, Monday through Friday. The Angels need your assistance to continue to help those who cannot and should not be out shopping during the pandemic. There is a need for soups, cereal, tuna, juice boxes, snacks, milk, rice, paper towels, canned fruit, pasta, soap, vegetables and salt-free and sugar free items. If you are able to help call Lew Simon at (718) 945-1216.
