After years of playing for school week bragging rights, the 8th grade girls of Saint Francis and Blessed Trinity squared-off for their final CYO regular season game. After years of hearing about the outcomes, during the school week, three local teachers, Mrs. Hayes, Mrs. Foti, and Mrs. Gigliello, came to cheer the girls on.

Both teams played hard and competed until the end, but Blessed Trinity pulled away in the second half, and left with a hard earned 5-2 victory. For Saint Francis, Morgan Harkins showcased her deft dribbling ability for a score and Callie Mullin added a beautifully placed high ball, just out of the reach of the opposing goalie. Blessed Trinity was led by Olivia Forrester, Alana Lizzi, Shea Frank and Elle Fina.

Both teams and their friendly rivalry over the years, remind us why the CYO soccer program is such an important part of growing up on our peninsula. As these young ladies move on to high school, they will carry with them the memories of these games, the competition, the sportsmanship, and, most importantly, despite the color of their jerseys, the enduring friendships. Good luck ladies and thank you! (Submitted by Christian DiGennaro)
