Way to go RBNY-18! The huge consort of locals who participated in the National Stair Climb in honor of fallen 9/11 firefighters, reached for the top! The local group surpassed their fundraising goal by $5,000, raising more than $11,000 for the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation.
The big group met up at Rogers and hopped a coach bus to Belmont Park on Sunday, October 17. Firefighter and Wine With Sue singer John Burke was given the honor of singing the National Anthem to kick off the event. Then the group joined hundreds of other participants to climb 2,200 steps, or 110 stories around Belmont. With a boost of local support, the group was able to almost double their fundraising goal for the cause.
“These donations provide services for the families of the fallen, and for those whose battles with cancer and other 9/11 related illnesses have just begun. So, from the bottom of our hearts, our team thanks all of you for your generosity,” team captain Jen Fabry said in a social media post.
