Sooooo, it's been another crazy week in the World of Professional Wrestling! Let's start off by reporting the biggest news coming from the WWE, which saw WWE Superstars and Tag Team Champions Sasha Banks and Naomi walk out from a scheduled Monday Night RAW Show due to frustrations with the creative direction they were given that night. As first reported by Pro Wrestling Illustrated, both Sasha and Naomi arrived to last week's Monday Show on May 16 and found out the outcome of a planned main event, which would have featured both of them in a Six Pack Challenge alongside WWE Superstars Asuka, Becky Lynch, Doudrop and Nikki A.S.H. to determine who will face WWE Raw Women's Champion Bianca Belair at the "Hell In A Cell" Pay Per View. Now, Sasha, not happy about the match, decided to speak with WWE CEO Vince McMahon to voice her concerns. Vince McMahon is said to have disagreed with Sasha's concerns and refused to change the plans for the match and the creative direction of Sasha and Naomi. Frustrated, Sasha and Naomi both left the building to return later that night. They both went to the office of WWE Head of Talent Relations John Laurinaitis and placed the Tag Team Championship Titles on his desk and left the show. This drew backlash from WWE management as they released several official statements, claiming overall their displeasure with Sasha and Naomi, calling them both "unprofessional." It was reported before the release of this column that the WWE has stripped the titles off Sasha and Naomi and indefinitely suspended both of them. The WWE has confirmed that they will be holding a WWE Women's Tag Team Championship Tournament in the near future to crown new champions.
Now, this is my opinion about this whole matter. The WWE, for a long time has been the number one game in town. But I have seen the WWE over the past years, misuse and mistreat talent, sign talent to unfair contracts and I have watched them think they can do whatever they wanted to do with their talent because they were the top promotion in the world. I'm sorry WWE, the talent you sign are people. They are people who you use to make millions off of but refuse to allow them any kind of creative opinion. In my book, more talent should step up and voice their opinion when it comes to how they are used and treated. Overall, the WWE has been going down these past years with poor storylines and their failure to keep fans interested in the overall product. But they have bigger issues from within and I have a feeling this won't be the last time we hear about an incident like this.
Staying with the WWE, it's been reported that Stephanie McMahon will be taking a leave from her current position within the WWE. It's unknown why she is taking a leave from the business, but we will keep you updated as we continue to get more information regarding this story.
