The Joseph P. Addabbo Family Health Center (JPA) held a Health, Faith, and Community Summer Wellness Fair on Saturday, June 25. Hundreds of community residents were in attendance to take advantage of the many health screenings, job opportunities, and HIV resources provided by JPA staff members. The beautiful weather provided the perfect backdrop for the festive and entertaining fair.
The event was chock-full of activities for the whole family: face painting and games galore for the kids, glucose, blood pressure, vision screenings, mental health and trauma education, WIC resources, HIV resources, and COVID testing were all available. Workshops were presented by JPA providers on a wide variety of topics and there were music, live drumming, dance, and comedy performances provided throughout the event. Additionally, JPA’s Human Resources Department was on site to recruit for available job opportunities! Food and ice cream trucks along with a dessert cart were on site to provide attendees with free food and drink. A prize wheel afforded many the opportunity to win prizes and take part in the culminating raffle. Every attendee left with a gift bag of goodies.
The Summer Wellness Fair was a collaboration between Far Rockaway faith leaders and DHMH community resources. We partnered to raise awareness, provide education and resources and help to reduce the spread of HIV/AIDS. We understand that access to quality preventative care is key. JPA is committed to providing services to those most in need.
