NY Primary Results


The results of the primary election are in. November’s election will see a showdown between Democrat Kathy Hochul and Republican Lee Zeldin for New York Governor.

On Tuesday, June 28, a primary was held for the gubernatorial race, lieutenant governor and judge of the Civil Court. Registered democrats had a few more races on their ballots this year. For governor, local democrats had a choice between current Governor Kathy Hochul, Public Advocate Jumaane Williams and moderate democrat Thomas Suozzi.  For lieutenant governor, there was a choice between Ana Maria Archila, Anthony Delgado and Diana Reyna. For judge of the Civil Court, there was a choice of two between Karen Lin, Devian Daniels, Maria T. Gonzalez and Thomas Medardo Oliva. For the republican ballot, local voters got to vote for their gubernatorial candidate between Rob Astorino, Andrew Giuliani, Harry Wilson and Lee Zeldin.

In the democratic primary, Kathy Hochul came on top in a landslide with 67.7% of the vote, according to NY1. In the lieutenant governor race, Anthony Delgado won in a landslide with 61% of the vote. In the judge for Civil Court race, Karen Lin and Maria T. Gonzalez came on top, according to the Board of Elections.

In the republican primary, Lee Zeldin came on top with 43.9% of the vote, according to NY1.

Hochul and Zeldin will go on to be the candidates in November’s general election for governor. The congressional primary for District 5 will be held in August ahead of the November election.
