Rockaway Marathon & Half Marathon

On Saturday, October 9, Rockapulco Run is hosting its big marathon and half marathon events. The races have an 8:30 a.m. start and take place on the boardwalk. Sign up at 


Queens Royal Priesthood Run/Walk

On Saturday, October 9, at 1 a.m., join at Beach 90th Street for QRP’s 4th annual 5K run/walk. The walk will end at Beach 17th Street. Run/walk for any cause important to you. There will be food and raffles.


Children’s Harvest Festival

On Saturday, October 9 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., head to the Far Rock Farm at 45-55 Beach Channel Drive for a day of farm tours, pumpkin decorating, entertainment, seed planting, manicures, chicken feeding, games, resources and more with the Campaign Against Hunger.


Duke Kahanamoku Rededication Ceremony

On Saturday, October 9 from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., head to Beach 38th Street to join AmpSurf and Sen. Addabbo for a beach cleanup and ceremony honoring surf legend Duke Kahanamoku.


Rockaway Bike Tour Fundraiser

On Saturday, October 9, from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m., join Tom Finkelpearl, former Commissioner of NYC’s Department of Cultural Affairs and longtime part-time Rockaway resident, for a private bike tour of the Rockaways focusing on the area’s history, especially the impact of legendary NYC Parks Commissioner Robert Moses. Full Hunter’s Moon Hike

On Saturday, October 9, at 6:30 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for a hike around the ponds with a ranger. Hear about a traditional name for this moon and look for signs of the story it represents. All ages welcome. Space will be limited, so register by calling (718) 381-4340.


Hotel Fall Fest

On Sunday, October 10 and Monday, October 11, head to the Rockaway Hotel on Beach 108th Street for a two-day fall fest filled with fun for all ages, including live music, arts & crafts, photo opportunities and numerous local vendors to shop all things fall.


Fall Career Fair

On Monday, October 11, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m., head to the Hammel Houses (81-04 Rockaway Beach Blvd) for a career fair to learn about opportunities from dozens of businesses and organizations. Bring your resume. Dress for success.


Native Peoples of New York

On Monday, October 11 at 10 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to learn about the Native peoples who have historically and currently live in the New York metropolitan area. 


Fall Festival

On Monday, October 11, from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to Bayswater Park (Beach Channel Dr. and Beach 35th Street) for festivities including a pumpkin patch, arts and crafts, games, hand painting, inflatables, music and more.


Community Board 14

On Tuesday, October 12 at 7 p.m., CB14 will hold its monthly meeting on Webex. There will be discussions from the Parks and Public Safety Committee and By-laws Committee, and a presentation on the new firehouse for B. 116th. On Saturdays at 9 a.m. at Beach 32nd Street and the boardwalk NYC Parks for a free, fun and funky low to medium impact dance fitness class.

On Saturdays at 11 a.m. at Beach 59th Street Playground, join NYC Parks for a free total body, non-contact workout fit for all levels.
