Community Beach Prep Day
On Saturday, May 17 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Beach 17th, 59th, 97th or 116th to help the NYC Parks Maintenance & Operations team in putting the finishing touches on Rockaway Beach before the season opens! All tools and supplies, including gloves, will be provided, but please wear sturdy footwear and appropriate sun protection attire and bring a water bottle. For ages 5 and older and of all abilities.
Project Underway
On Saturday, May 17 from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., head to Beach 60th under the El to join RISE and Living City Project in this student-led community event. Help paint Seaside Strong, a permanent mural on the roadbed, under the A-train’s elevated tracks. All are welcome!
Horseshoe Crab Festival
On Sunday, May 18 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Broad Channel American Park (Sunset Cove) at W. 22nd Rd. to join the National Park Service and partner organizations for the 9th Annual Horseshoe Crab Festival! Enjoy family activities, guided walks, and a chance to meet and learn about one of Earth’s oldest and most interesting residents, the Horseshoe crab.
Rockaway Beach Cleanup
On Sunday, May 18 at 2:30 p.m., head to Beach 108th Street and the boardwalk to join JBRPC for a beach cleanup. Gloves, bags, and tools provided. Wear weather-appropriate clothing, sturdy, closed-toe shoes, and bring water and sunscreen. The event is rain or shine. Followed by an Apéro hosted by Souleil at The Rockaway Hotel, featuring live music, ocean views, delicious organic wines, and good vibes. Register at: www.jbrpc.org/events
Kripalu Yoga on the Beach
On Monday, May 18 at 8 a.m., head to the sand on Beach 124th Street for this whole-body yoga class featuring breath, movement and presence. All levels welcome. No experience needed. Donation-based. For more info, see ElyseLombardo.com

On Tuesday, May 20 at 11 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) to join Christine Walker in a free movement class with seated and standing chair movement.
Water Safety Workshop
On Tuesday, May 20 at 3:30 p.m., head to the Far Rockaway Teen Library (2002 Cornaga Ave.) to join Black Surfing Rockaway for a water safety workshop where teens will learn water safety skills while enjoying hands-on experience with life jackets and surfboards. Fun activities and giveaways.
Belle Harbor Property Owners Association Meeting
On Tuesday, May 20 at 6:30 p.m., head to Jade Events on Beach 129th Street for the BHPOA meeting. Enjoy pizza from La Sorrentina before the meeting and then hear community updates, plus info from DSNY on composting, DEP on flood mitigation and more.
Cardio Punch
On Saturdays at 11 a.m. through June 28, head to Beach 60th and the boardwalk for a free class involving punching and kicking combinations.
Chair Movement Class
On Monday and Wednesdays at 10 a.m., head to Temple Beth-El (201 Beach 121st Street) for Chair Movement class, stretching and strengthening for your whole body. Donation based.
Uplifted Dance Fitness
On Mondays and Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m., head to the Beach 32nd Street Football Field (Beach 32nd and the boardwalk) for a free dance workout class with Miss Dawn.
