Dragon’s Way Qigong

On Friday, November 14 at 10 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Alexandra G. Taggart, certified instructor of Dragon’s Way Qigong, leads a thirty-minute class of standing movement and meditation.

 

Thanksgiving Half Marathon & 5K

On Saturday, November 15, the Rockaway Track Club is hosting its Thanksgiving half marathon and 5K runs. Head to Beach 108th and the boardwalk for bib pickup and day of registration at 8 a.m. Both races start at 9 a.m. on the boardwalk. Pre-register at Rockawaytc.org

 

Brant Point Cleanup

On Saturday, November 15 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., head to Brant Point Wildlife Sanctuary (69-62 Bayfield Ave.) to join JBRPC for a shoreline cleanup. Help remove marine debris from the shoreline. Gloves, trash bags and tools provided. Rain or shine. Register at www.jbrpc.org/events

 

Chris Cori 40th Anniversary Memorial

On Saturday, November 15 from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the 40th anniversary memorial fundraiser for the late Chris Cori. Bring a framed photo of a loved one you’d like to remember. $75 per person via Venmo to @John-Cori or Zelle 516-509-8957 or $80 at the door. Live music by The Knobs, refreshments, light fare, 50/50 raffle. Proceeds benefit Special Olympics and a friend in need.

On Sunday, November 16 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to Rockaway Beach Surf Club (302 Beach 87th Street) to shop from local vendors.

On Monday, November 17 at 11 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Ann Fosteris teaches a FREE exercise class. For neighbors of all ages and fitness levels.

 

Core on the Floor

On Monday, November 17 at 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a FREE thirty-minute class, led by Ann Fosteris, that focuses on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels are welcome!

 

BHPOA Meeting

On Tuesday, November 18 at 7 p.m., head to the Belle Harbor Yacht Club (533 Beach 126th Street) for the monthly Belle Harbor Property Owners Association meeting. Updates on the election results and more.

 

Rockaway Beach Food Drive

From now through November 17, drop off non-perishable food items on the porch of 125 Beach 91st Street across from the Beach 91 Community Garden. All items will be donated to the St. Rose of Lima Food Pantry.

 

100th Precinct Meeting

On Wednesday, November 19 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th) for the monthly 100th Precinct Community Council meeting.

 

100th Precinct Chili

Cookoff

On Friday, November 21 at 7 p.m., the 100th Precinct Community Council is hosting its annual Chili Cookoff fundraiser. $25 at the door. $20 in advance from Council and Kiwanis members. Enjoy chili samples, raffles and 50/50 and cash bar. Prizes for best chili and mac entries!

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head the Far Rockaway Library (1637 Central Ave.) to join Gloria for Cardio Punch, a total body workout for all levels. Punch to the rhythms of motivating music. Through April.

 

Seaside Senior Activities

Seaside Older Adult Center (320 Beach 94th Street) hosts exercise classes for those 60+. New members can join from 8:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. Bring ID. Aerobics every Monday at 11 a.m. Strength Exercise/Movement with Tommy every Tuesday and Thursday at 11:15 a.m. Tai Chi for arthritis with Arthur every Wednesday at 11 a.m. Chair Yoga with Janelle every Friday at 11 a.m.
