Mike Scala Earns Endorsement Ahead of Assembly Campaign Kickoff

Democrat candidate for Assembly District 23, Mike Scala, has received the endorsement of Assembly 23 District Leader Jeanette Garramone, ahead of his campaign kickoff event on Thursday, February 26.

On Thursday, February 26, attorney Mike Scala will officially kick off with campaign with a fundraising event at Bungalow Bar at 7 p.m. All are welcome. Suggested donations of $25, $50 or $100 are encouraged. Checks can be made out to Scala for New York.

A few weeks ahead of his fundraising event, Garramone, whose constituency covers the western portion of the Rockaway peninsula, threw her support behind Scala for Assembly, voting for Scala at the Queens County Democratic Party’s designation meeting on February 2. This was a break from her fellow District Leader and retiring Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato, who endorsed Scala’s primary opponent Pesach Osina, signifying a divide among local party leadership.

Scala is a local attorney who has a history of fighting for the Rockaway community. He currently serves as counsel to the QueensLink project, which seeks to reactivate the Rockaway Beach Line to provide better public transit and has represented residents in high profile battles with the city. He was endorsed by numerous elected leaders and labor unions in past campaigns.

Assembly District 23 covers most of the Rockaways, Howard Beach, Broad Channel and parts of Ozone Park.
