The Spirit is Alive!
Dear Editor:
The Holy Spirit was present at the St. Camillus 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday and at our first evening prayer service. I sense the new energy that Fr. Kuroly is bringing to the St. Camillus-St. Virgilius Parish. On Sunday, Pentecost had a special significance for us. Not only did it celebrate the blessing of the Holy Spirit and the birth of the Catholic Church, it embodied the renewal of the St. Camillus-St. Virgilius Parish.
Fr. Kuroly shared his secret formula we need to focus on. As Catholics, we need to be enthusiastic. Being miserable does not appeal nor attract people that may have an interest in joining the church. So, our first goal is to work on our enthusiasm. Our second goal is to be a people of service. As we all know, there are many people who are in need. And lastly, we can’t do this on our own. We need to pray. So, every day, we should be praying not only to the Lord, Mary, your favorite Saint, but to the Holy Spirit to change us. To inspire us to be better people so we can do the Lord’s work. To be there for each other. We need to spread more love, tolerance and understanding. We need to keep an open and soft heart to help those in need. Sometimes that could mean just a smile or some kindness. And we need to continue to pray. Pray for strength, wisdom and patience. For those who are suffering and in pain. Pray for all of us to strive to be better to each other which in turn will make our community and our world better. It begins with each one of us. I pray you will join us. We are doing all of this enthusiastically!
Thank you to the Graybeards for sponsoring last week’s Hospitality Sunday and to the volunteers who gave their time to make the event great.
