A Lasting Impression

    Dear Editor:
Regarding your article on Barbara Hillary Day, I had the pleasure of meeting her about 15 years ago, sitting next to her at a defensive driving course. We spoke for about 20 minutes and could immediately tell she was not your typical old person complaining about their problems, but someone who had a zest for life. She had just returned from the North Pole. A few years before, she also visited Antarctica. I asked her why she went to the North Pole, and she responded, “Should I just stay home?” I knew she was someone I wanted to have further contact with.
