Dear Editor:
I’ve been enjoying your articles of the history of St. Francis Summer Classic. It’s a positive community sporting event teaching children of all ages the basics of basketball.
I believe the initial idea happened over 40 years ago when Bernie Heeran, during the summer months, taught many of our children ages 3, 4 and 5, how to play basketball at the St. Francis School Yard. Thank you, Bernie, we will never forget your kindness.
