Barbara Faron Residence Opens in Far Rockaway

On Monday, June 3, Federation of Organizations, in partnership with CSD Housing, Urban Architectural Initiatives (UAI), Mega Contracting Group LLC, and HPD (New York City Housing Preservation & Development), held a ribbon cutting and grand opening celebration for the Barbara Faron Residence at 20-50 Nameoke Avenue.

Queens Borough President Donovan Richards and HPD Deputy Commissioner of New Construction and Finance Emily Lehman spoke at the event. “Every new affordable housing unit we build in Queens represents a chance at peace of mind and prosperity for a family,” Richards said.

The Barbara Faron Residence is a nine-story, 118-unit residential building, with 71 units set aside for formerly homeless neighbors. A significant addition to Federation of Organizations’ Supportive Housing Program, this state-of-the-art building includes a laundry facility, community room, exercise room, reading room with access to a terrace with great views, and 24/7 front desk and security personnel.

Conveniently located less than one block from the Long Island Rail Road and subway station, the building is named for Federation of Organizations CEO Barbara Faron, who has been a driving force for positive change within the agency since taking the helm in 1986.
