Beach 146th Makes the New Year’s Day Dip

Beach 146th usually draws one of the biggest crowds for the annual New Year’s Day polar plunge but with the mid-twenties temps with high winds making it colder, and low tide making it harder to run in and go under into the 44-degree ocean, the crowd was smaller than usual, after a few years of better conditions spoiled dippers.

But that didn’t stop all from breaking tradition as several brave souls still led a countdown from 10 and as the clock struck noon, they went barreling into the chilly waves, and then ran out and got dressed as quickly as possible.
