Devastating Loss

Dear Editor:

Like just about everyone in Rockaway, my family was devastated by the loss of Patrick Brady. The evening after his death, my wife and I were supposed to meet Patrick’s parents in Florida for dinner. My youngest son, Andrew, became friends with Patrick in kindergarten and stayed friends. Pat’s father, Dennis and I coached Little League together for 10 years. My sons, my wife and I became friends of the Brady family right away. Pat’s brother Brian played ball with my older son, Phil, who called from his home in LA to find out if this was true. We attended Patrick’s Communion and Patrick and his family attended the Bar Mitzvahs of both of my sons, Philip and Andrew. To say that this was devastating news would be an understatement. My wife Gail and I got on the first flight we could get and flew from Florida to NY because we MUST say a proper farewell to Patrick and to show our deepest regards and respect for the Brady Family.
