They put their best paw forwarded and strutted their stuff on the dog walk. The third annual Rockaway Dog Parade, organized by Dana Humphrey, was a barking success!

On Saturday, September 14, costumed pups and their humans gathered near the Beach 108th hockey rink to put on their finishing touches before stepping off on to the boardwalk to show off some out of this world looks, many fitting the cosmic theme of this year’s parade, with aliens and Yoda joining in the fun. There was also a Scooby Doo Scream Machine, a puppy ready for a Mexican fiesta, a patriotic pooch, Thing 1 and Thing 2, Supergirl, a cowgirl, and many other fetching looks. The dogs and their human companions walked down to Beach 94th Street, stopping in front of the judges’ stand, where Lisa Villeto, Eric McManus and Russel Siegel had the ruff job of picking top dog. That honor went to Bentley, a Scottish terrier, styling a leather jacket, helmet, heart-shaped sunglasses, and riding upon a custom remote-controlled rover.

After the parade, all were welcome to enjoy giveaways, vendors, and more, as the party continued on the beautiful Saturday afternoon.
