Express Bus Service Extensions to Continue

Use it before you lose it! On Tuesday, July 22, local officials announced that enhanced Rockaway express bus service will continue on three lines, the QM15, QM16 and QM17, into 2026.

Beginning in January, the QM15 express bus was extended to Arverne during the A train shutdown. The service now starts at Beach 54th and stops at Beach 67th, Beach 77th and Beach 92nd Street before continuing to Cross Bay Blvd. and into Manhattan. The QM16 from western Rockaway and QM17 from eastern Rockaway added additional peak round trips. Despite the A train resuming service on May 19, the bus services have continued due to popularity.

As announced on Tuesday, the QM15 extension will continue through March 2026. The additional peak trips on the QM16 and QM17 will extend through January 2026.

These services are temporary, but Councilwoman Selvena Brooks-Powers advises riders to utilize the service if they wish for it to be extended further or made permanent in the future.

“Let me be clear. This extension is temporary,” Brooks-Powers said according to AMNY. “If we want to make these improvements permanent, riders must take advantage of the service now. Ridership will determine the future of express bus options in the Rockaways.”
