This Sunday, December 21, at 10:03 a.m., marks the winter solstice—the official start of winter—when the Northern Hemisphere is tilted farthest away from the sun. It’s the shortest day and longest night of the year. From here on out, days will slowly but steadily begin to get longer.

At a recent meeting with the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it was announced that the uptown ADA ramps will not be constructed before next summer. Those jetty death sticks? Those allegedly won’t be removed before next summer either. There also seem to be few ideas to save the failing mobi-mat crossovers. Disappointing but somehow not surprising.

The CBS comedy “The King of Queens “(1998–2007), starring Kevin James and Leah Remini, featured a fictional Rego Park neighborhood church—played by none other than Rockaway’s own St. Francis de Sales Church. We’re told the church may have even done its own stunts.
