Our thoughts and prayers go out to those in Israel. What the Hamas terrorists have done there is beyond horrifying and should be unequivocally condemned by anyone with a moral bone in their body — regardless of your faith. Rockaway, of course, has a tremendous Jewish community and we want them to know that we stand with the people of Israel and the Jewish people all around the world in fighting back against this evil.

An unfortunate trend is starting to take form. Last Saturday was another washout here on the peninsula. Many events planned for Saturday had to be postponed. Come on Mother Nature, work with us! At least events scheduled for Sunday went forward. Let’s keep our fingers crossed that the weather is cooperative for this weekend … Although, so far, it is not looking great.

Our friends on Beach 116th Street are having their First Annual Fall Fest this Sunday, October 15 from 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. The entire street will be shut down, and there will be vendors, food and beer trucks, live music, and plenty for the kids to do as there are lots of events planned for them from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. (face painting, bouncy house, petting zoo, games and much more)! Get out, support our local merchants, and enjoy the day on Beach 116th Street.
