Hurricane Sandy Documentary Project Seeks Participants
A leading New York-based film production company and Academy Award-nominated Director are working on a documentary film project about Hurricane Sandy to coincide with the 15th anniversary of the storm. As a part of their research process, they are looking for people who would be interested in sharing their stories and potentially participating in an on-camera interview later this year.
The film will highlight stories of heroism, hardship, and resilience that emerged throughout New York City as the storm hit and devastated multiple communities in all five boroughs. The team wants to hear from everyone from first responders to firefighters and EMTs, to good neighbors who came to the rescue in a time of need.
A significant portion of the film will focus on how Hurricane Sandy uniquely impacted The Rockaways. The producers are looking to connect with individuals who lived through the storm and its aftermath and are interested in sharing their experiences, memories, and reflections as part of this project. All perspectives are welcome.
By featuring the voices of many people around the city, the film seeks to convey that extreme weather events can happen anywhere, that they make a lasting impact on those who experienced them, and to encourage better preparation and protections for the future.
