Open the Park

 Open the Park

Dear Editor:

What a beautiful park the city built along the bay on Beach 88th Street. Well, at least that is how it appears from behind the metal fence that is still up, preventing people from enjoying this taxpayer-funded hard work.

There appears to be a small staging area in the far western corner of the new park that is either still being worked on (although no workers have been seen, at least by me, in weeks) or is simply still holding building materials that are waiting to be picked up and moved.

The rest of the park looks completely ready to be open to the public.

What is the city waiting for? Can’t you open the area that is finished (95% of it!) while one small area is still being worked on? The delay was not a problem in the cooler months, but it was 60 degrees yesterday with a south wind, and a park along the bay would have been perfect.

At this rate, by the time the whole thing is opened, it will probably be in need of maintenance and repair. Typical NYC.

In short, just open the park!
