At the Arverne Cinema, The Rockaway Film Festival presents a program of feature-length and short films organized by art historian, curator, and Rockaway resident, Eva Díaz. This series features 15 artists and filmmakers whose works investigate anti-colonial struggles and histories of liberation in Puerto Rico. Film lineup: Friday at 8:30 p.m.: Juan C. Davila’s 120-minute film, “Simulacros de Liberación” (Drills of Liberation). Subtitled in English. Saturday, 7 p.m.: “Cortometrajes” (Science Fictions & Futures) a series of short films, DJ set by Gio Escobar and a geodesic dome assembly by artist, Matthew Mottel. Daily admission: $10.
