Rockaway Honors Our Veterans
On Veterans Day, Friday, November 11, the Daniel M. O’Connell Post 272 of the American Legion brought the community together to honor those who have served this country.
A small crowd gathered at the Doughboy Monument on Beach 94th Street, where members of the American Legion, including president Mike Honan, led prayers and speeches. U.S. Army Veteran Brian Galarza then played Taps on the bugle. The ceremony ended with the crowd coming together to sing “God Bless America.”
