Rockaway Market Street @ Beach 60th

On Saturday, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to Rockaway Market Street @ Beach 60th and the Rockaway Freeway to shop from local vendors. Patti Blue & the Rockaways will be the musical performer.

 

Native Plant Nursery Planting

On Saturday, September 21 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., join RISE at Arverne East, 190 Beach 44th Street, to establish the new Native Plant Nursery. Participants will learn to collect seeds from the native coastal plants and help to set up and plant the raised beds for the inaugural season. All ages welcome. Students seeking community service hours are welcome.

 

Poseidon’s Parade

On Saturday, September 21 at 1 p.m., head to Beach 105th and the boardwalk to join in the nautical art parade, Poseidon’s Parade. Wear your mermaid best and join in the fun or watch from the sidelines. The parade goes to the Beach 97th concessions, where the awards will be announced and the after party commences. Hawk Watch

On Saturday, September 21 at 2 p.m. head to Battery Harris in Fort Tilden to join a park ranger for the chance to see birds of prey like Osprey, Peregrine Falcons, and Bald Eagles as they fly overhead during the peak fall migration. Learn to ID them by silhouette and at rest. This will take place at the overlook above Battery Harris at Fort Tilden. Cancelled if raining.

 

Nature Preserve Planting

On Sunday, September 22 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to the Arverne East Nature Preserve on Beach 44th Street to join Don Riepe of the Littoral Society plant more than 300 trees, shrubs and wildflowers. Bark in the Park

On Sunday, September 22 from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., head to the park at West 22nd Road in Broad Channel to join Zion’s and Sasha’s Mission for a pet adoption and fundraising event with adoptable dogs, pet photography, doggy yoga, a costume dog show, raffles and more. Fall Makers Market

On Sunday, September 22 from 12 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to the Rockaway Beach Surf Club (302 Beach 87th St.) to shop from local vendors, enjoy tacos and more.

 

Local Filmmakers’ Showcase

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head to Beach 60th and the boardwalk to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

 

Birding for Beginners

On Sundays through Sept. 29, at 1:30 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to learn about birding. You’ll take a nature walk, talk about what makes Jamaica Bay such a great place for birds, and learn the basics of bird identification and appreciation. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended, binoculars available.

 

Yoga with Soupy

On Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8:30 a.m., head to Beach 102nd Street for a yoga class led by Soupy Campbell.

 

Floyd Bennett Field Kayaking

On Saturdays and Sundays at 9:30 a.m., head to the Floyd Bennett Field Seaplane Ramp in Brooklyn for kayaking for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult.
