Rockaway Beach Civic Meeting

On Thursday, March 6 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus for the RBCA meeting featuring updates from elected officials, the NYPD 100th Precinct, as well as Civic announcements. Stick around for a post-meeting mixer featuring pizza and cash bar.

 

Stargazing

On Friday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m., head to Floyd Bennett Field Hangar Row/ Community Garden to join the Amateur Astronomers Association for a free observation session of the night sky.

 

Winter Birding

On Saturday, March 8 at 9 a.m., head to the Ryan Visitor Center at Floyd Bennett Field to join NYC Bird Alliance to spot winter visitors like shovelers, scoters, and mergansers.

 

Spring Cleanup at Brant Point

On Saturday, March 8 at 10:30 a.m., head to Brant Point Wildlife Sanctuary on Bayfield Avenue in Arverne to join the Jamaica Bay-Rockaway Parks Conservancy for a Spring Clean Up. Jamaica Bay Park Pals

On Saturday, March 8 at 10:30 a.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for Park Pals, a program designed to engage families with young children (ages 0-6 years old) in safe nature exploration. Activities include themed read-alouds, discovery walks led by a Ranger, crafts, and more! Pre-registration is required via jbrpc.org/parkpals

 

National Barbie Day

On Saturday, March 8 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., head to the Rockaway YMCA (207 Beach 73rd Street) to celebrate National Barbie Day! Enjoy arts and crafts, a best dressed contest, photo booth and more!

 

Winter Bird Walk 2.0

On Sunday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), to join the NYC Plover Project for a winter birding tour of Edgemere! Come see sea ducks, grebes, common and red-throated loons, northern gannets, and other winter birds on the shoreline. All levels of birder welcome. Binoculars provided. Community Board 14

On Tuesday, March 11 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the monthly CB14 meeting. Presentations by the FDNY on lithium ion batteries, OEM on Notify NYC and economic and environmental committee reports. To speak, show up before the meeting to sign up.

 

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays through May 3, at 11 a.m., head to the Far Rockaway Library (1637 Central Ave.) to join Gloria for this total-body, non-contact workout for all fitness levels.

Class

On Monday and Wednesdays at 10 a.m., head to Temple Beth-El (201 Beach 121st Street) for Chair Movement class, stretching and strengthening for your whole body and mind. Donation based.

 

Master Fitness™

On Mondays from 11 a.m. to 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris teaches a free 45-minute exercise class. All ages and fitness levels are welcome! Support provided by FRANC and Fund for the City of New York.

 

Core on the Floor

On Mondays from 11:45 a.m. to 12:15 p.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Boulevard), as Ann Fosteris leads a free 30-minute class focusing on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels are welcome!

Uplifted Dance Fitness

On Mondays and Tuesdays at 11 a.m., head to Redfern Community Center (1544 Hassock Street) for a free dance workout class with Miss Dawn.
