Rockaway Beach Bubble Run
On Friday, July 18 at 6 p.m., head to the Beach 94th Amphitheater for this fun 5k/ One-mile walk on the boardwalk and get blasted with bubbles along the way. Registration includes a t-shirt and medal. Pre-register at Rockawaytc.org
Riis Landing Kayaking for Beginners
On Saturday, July 19 at 1 p.m., head to Riis Landing for kayaking for beginners. Open to ages 6 and up with an adult. Dress to get wet and bring water. Kayaks, paddles, lifejackets and instruction provided.
Fort and Dunes Hike
On Saturday, July 19 at 2 p.m., head to the Chapel (1 Murray Rd.) in Fort Tilden to join a park ranger on a guided nature walk on trails and learn about the history. Includes walking 2 miles on uneven terrain.
Tail Waggers Pool Party
On Saturday, July 19 at 2 p.m., head to Rockaway Freeway Dog Run (83-02 Beach Channel Drive) and bring your dog for a full day of splashing and frolicking in the doggie pool and dog-friendly ice cream treat.
Catch a Buzz About Bees
On Sunday, July 20 at 10:30 a.m., head to Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a Park Ranger to learn all about NY’s native bees and what we can do to help them. This program involves a woodworking demonstration where you’ll learn how to make a bee hotel.
Movies Under the Stars: Queen of Katwe
On Sunday, July 20 at 9 p.m., head to the Beach 94th Amphitheater to catch a screening of PG movie “Queen of Katwe,” a biopic about Ugandan chess prodigy Phiona Mutesi. Bring a chair or blanket. Cancelled if heavy rain.
Rockaway Refresh at B. 86th
On Monday, July 21 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., head to Beach 67h and the boardwalk for a shoreline cleanup with JBRPC after the busy weekend.
Birding for Beginners
On Sundays through July 27 at 2 p.m. head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a ranger to take a nature walk, and learn the basics of bird identification. Bug spray and sunscreen are recommended, binoculars available.
Yoga on the Beach

Uplifted Dance Class
On Mondays and Tuesdays at 6:15 p.m., head to the Beach 32nd Street Football Field (Beach 32nd and the boardwalk) for a free dance workout class with Miss Dawn.
Free Art Classes
On Mondays from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., head to 205 Beach 96th Street to enjoy free mixed media art classes in conjunction with Ordervision, NYFA and others.
Zumba Under the Stars
On Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. through Aug. 28, head to the Beach 108th Hockey Rink to join Lisa G for this free high-energy dance workout class.
