On Thursday, November 20 at 6:30 p.m., head to the Queens Community Justice Center of The Rockaways (1027 Beach 20th Street) for one free turkey per family. First come, first served. Bring your own bag.

Dragon’s Way Qigong

On Friday, November 21 at 10 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Alexandra G. Taggart, instructor of Dragon’s Way Qigong, leads a 30-minute class of standing movement and meditation.

100th Precinct Chili Cookoff

On Friday, November 21 at 7 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the 100th Precinct Community Council and Kiwanis Club’s chili cookoff. Try 25 different chilis and mac and cheese samples and enjoy a 50/50. $25 at the door or $20 in advance. Contact Liz at 646-208-3434.

On Saturday, November 22 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., head to King of Kings Foundation (34-11 Beach Channel Drive) for Councilwoman Selvena Brooks-Powers’ turkey distribution. District 31 residents are priority. Please bring ID.

Gather Around the Campfire

On Saturday, November 22 at 5 p.m., head to Beach 44th and the boardwalk to join NYC Parks Urban Rangers for a campfire. Enjoy activities such as stories, songs and more.

Hurricane Melissa Fundraiser for Jamaica

On Saturday, November 22 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., head to Rhythms on the Rock (112-16 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a fundraiser for the autism community in Jamaica, dealing with the effects of Hurricane Melissa. Music by DJ Mugsy. Enjoy food and drinks. Bring a gift (toys, coloring books, sensory items, food, baby and hygiene supplies) as a donation.

PS/MS 47 PTA Holiday Extravaganza!

On Sunday, November 23 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to 9 Power Road, fourth floor auditorium, in Broad Channel, for the PS/MS 47’s Holiday Extravaganza! Enjoy pictures with Santa, shopping with local businesses, holiday crafts, refreshments for sale, letters to St. Nick, Girl Scout carolers, and more! Accepting unwrapped toys for Toys For Tots!

Brunch With a Purpose

On Sunday, November 23 from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m., head to Batesy’s (68-20 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) to enjoy brunch specials and DJ Petervibe. 15% discount for federal employees with ID. For every $30 spent, a meal will be donated toward Far Rock Greek Council’s Operation Thanksgiving Feast on Nov. 27 at Beach 20th Plaza.

Core on the Floor

On Monday, November 24 at 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a FREE thirty-minute class, led by Ann Fosteris, that focuses on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels are welcome!

Rockaway Turkey

Trot

On Thursday, November 27, the Rockaway Track Club hosts its Rockaway Turkey Trot. Head to Healy’s Pub (108-07 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) at 8 a.m. for bib and t-shirt pickup and day of registration. The 5K run begins on the boardwalk at 9 a.m.  Pre-register at www.Rockawaytc.org

Thanksgiving

On Thursday, November 27, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., head to the 100th Precinct (92-24 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a free Thanksgiving meal. For seniors and those who are disabled and can’t make it, contact Victor Boamah in advance at 917-783-5215 to have a meal delivered.

Cardio Punch

On Saturdays at 11 a.m., head the Far Rockaway Library (1637 Central Ave.) to join Gloria for Cardio Punch, a total body workout for all levels. Punch to the rhythms of motivating music.
