Full Cold Moon Hike

On Friday, December 5 at 4:30 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge for a full moon hike with a ranger. Hear about a traditional name for this full moon and look for signs of the story it represents. This is an all-weather event, so dress for the conditions.

 

Dragon’s Way Qigong

On Friday, December 5 at 10:30 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) as Alexandra G. Taggart, certified instructor of Dragon’s Way Qigong, leads a thirty-minute class of standing movement and meditation.

 

Holiday Boutique

On Friday, December 5 from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., head to the Belle Harbor Yacht Club (533 Beach 126th Street) to shop for the holidays from more than 40 local vendors. Enjoy a DJ, live music, raffles and more.

 

Broad Channel Crafters Boutique

On Friday, December 5 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, December 6 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m., head to the American Legion Hall (209 Cross Bay Blvd.) to shop for handcrafted goods by the Broad Channel Crafters. Shop for jewelry, ornaments, baked goods, decorations and more. Proceeds go to local churches and veteran programs.

 

Winter Waterfowl Workshop

On Saturday, December 6 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., head to First Congregational Church (320 Beach 94th St.) to shop for new and used items, to help support the church.

 

Broad Channel Christmas Festival

On Saturday, December 6 at 4 p.m., head to the BCAC Memorial Field (125 Cross Bay Blvd.) in Broad Channel for the annual Christmas tree lighting. Enjoy performances, hot cocoa, refreshments, letter writing to Santa, make your own reindeer food, raffles and more. Bring canned goods and unwrapped toys to donate.

 

Reiki in Rockaway

On Sunday, December 7 from 11:15 a.m. to 1 p.m., head to the Arverne East coastal Conservation Center (190 Beach 44th St.) for a public meditation and Reiki refresh with Elsie Maio and Dana Humphrey. Enter in silence. Adults 18+ are welcome. Donations accepted.

 

Christmas in Belle Harbor

On Sunday, December 7 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., head to Beach 129th for a festive event featuring vendors, snowman bounce house, train ride, Santa letter writing, treats, and a calvary of light.

 

Art in the Park

On Sunday, December 7 at 1 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge Visitor Center for the opening reception of the Art in the Park exhibition of birder and artist AJ Rosenburg’s bird photography, all taken at Gateway. On display through February 8, 2026.

 

Jack Palmese Memorial

On Sunday, December 7 at 7 p.m., head to the 17th Road basketball court in Broad Channel for a tree decoration with ornaments in Coach Jack’s memory and a lighting ceremony.

Core on the Floor

On Monday, December 8 at 11:45 a.m., head to RISE (58-03 Rockaway Beach Blvd.) for a FREE thirty-minute class, led by Ann Fosteris, that focuses on core and lower body. Participants should bring their own mats. All levels!
