Rockaway Beach Marathon/ Half Marathon
On Saturday, October 8, the Rockaway Track Club is hosting its Marathon and Half Marathon. Check in/ bib pickup begins at 7 a.m. The marathon and half marathon begin on the boardwalk at Beach 116th Street at 8 a.m. Medals and t-shirts for all participants. To register, head to: www.rockawaytc.org
5th Annual BeCauze 5K Run/Walk
On Saturday, October 8 head to Beach 90th and the boardwalk to participate in Queens Royal Priest Hood’s annual walk. Walk for any cause you wish. Registration begins at 10 a.m. and ends at 11:30 a.m. The run/walk begins at noon from Beach 90th to Beach 17th. Enjoy food, raffles and resources at the end.
Rockaway Market Street
On Saturday, October 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., head under the elevated A train track at Beach 60th for an outdoor market including vendors such as: Blacksmith’s Breads, Edgemere Farm, Horman’s Best Pickles, Mushroom Queens, Rockaway Soda, Saratoga Peanut Butter Company, and more! Live music.
Record Fair
On Saturday, October 8 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., stop by Brothers at the Beach 106 Concession to purchase records/ vinyls and books. DJ music, food and more.
Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge: Creating Jamaica Bay
On Saturday, October 8 at 1 p.m., head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a ranger on a guided walk to explore how the utilization of Jamaica Bay has affected the life within our great estuary. Register by calling: (718) 318-4340
RB Oktoberfest
On Saturday, October 8 and Sunday, October 9, from 12 p.m. til close, head to the Beach 97th concession for Rockaway Bazaar’s Oktoberfest. Live music, beers, brats, pretzels, a stein hoisting competition, giveaways, goodies and more.
Octony Fest
On Saturday, October 8 from 12 p.m. to 5 p.m., head to the Arverne Cinema (72-02 Gouverneur Ave) for a day of Oktoberfest fun with beers, bites, live music, local vendors, kids activities, a pretzel eating contest and more.
QueensLink Support Rally
On Sunday, October 9 at 2 p.m., head to the Beach 92nd boardwalk to join for a rally for transit equity in Queens and Rockaway, by showing support for QueensLink, the reactivation of the Rockaway Beach Branch rail line.
Meditative Nature Walk
On Monday, October 10, head to the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge to join a ranger for a relaxing meditative stroll where you can watch the clouds, listen to the wind, and throw your troubles away to the sky. Call (718) 318-4340 to make a reservation.
Community Board 14 Meeting
On Tuesday, October 11 at 7:15 p.m., head to the Knights of Columbus (333 Beach 90th Street) for the monthly CB14 meeting. Hear updates on Arverne East, services at Ruth Bader Ginsburg Hospital in Brooklyn and more. Those wishing to speak must sign in before the meeting starts.
Chair Yoga at Rise
