Onslaught Awaits

 Onslaught Awaits

Dear Editor:

Yes, it is imminent!  The Army Corps. and Parks Department are gearing up for their latest onslaught on our shoreline. This time, we need a schedule posted in numerous locations of pending projects including the locations and when they will be affected. What is the secret? These intrusions are intense and maddening, perhaps worst of all, the beep beep beep a million times a day (which by the way is not necessary and can be silenced; there are no crawling babies anywhere near the jobsite). Last year during this cacophony, I had to rent a room many blocks away to escape the endless noise and to maintain a semblance of sanity.

Furthermore, I am not convinced any of these dunes, jetties and walls will be any match should Mother Nature really want her way again. Is that just me?

So many of their doings are repetitive and not necessary. I have often seen the laborers do, undo and do again their tasks because they didn’t do them right the first time – just a means to clock in the overtime and head back to their homes that are far far away from our beach.

In 2022, their construction plaque read: Completion Jan 2026. Well??
