Need to relax? Dana Humphrey and Onel Mulet are offering an opportunity to stay still, with a bit of music. Their Yin & Flute class is set for Saturday, January 31, at 11:30 a.m. at Hot Yoga Rockaway Beach.
Humphrey and Mulet’s 90-minute class features a blend of Yin Yoga with live flute music, crystal sound bowls and the gong. What is Yin Yoga? It’s a slow-paced, meditative style of yoga that targets deep connective tissues—such as fascia, ligaments, and joints—rather than muscles. Practitioners hold passive, seated, or reclined poses for three to 10 minutes to increase flexibility, improve joint mobility, and promote relaxation. These slow, meditative moves will be paired with the resonant sounds of live music.
“Find a sense of peace, balance, and spiritual renewal,” Humphrey said. “No yoga experience necessary.” The room will be warm. The class costs $45 if you pre-register or $50 at the door if there’s space at the studio on the second floor at 181 Beach 116th Street.
