 United For St. Camillus

Dear Editor:

For weeks, I have been writing letters to inform the Rockaway community on the happenings in St Camillus Church. St. Camillus is still here!

This past week, a “grass roots” movement was officially started involving parishioners and leaders of Rockaway organizations by meeting to discuss how we can work together to make every effort to save St. Camillus Church.

Some of the individuals have been in touch with the Bishop’s office and shared that the Bishop recognizes the increase in attendance at Sunday Mass. The increase is due to the combination of parishioners and members/ families of organizations who are committed to saving St. Camillus – Knights of Columbus, St. Camillus/Virgilius Sports Program, Graybeards, Special Olympics. AOH, with more to join us.

It was also shared that the Bishop is taking his time to explore all possibilities in order to make good decisions for all parties.

We need to continue our efforts to show our spiritual need for St. Camillus Church. Please join the parishioners of St. Camillus when you can at the 11:30 a.m. Mass. Let’s keep the attendance and collections growing!

We are also asking people to write an email to the Bishop in support of St. Camillus as well as to thank him for putting the closure of St. Camillus on hold to really evaluate all possibilities. His email address is Bishopofbrooklyn@diobrook.org.
