The Wrong Choice

 The Wrong Choice

By Robin Shapiro

I am occasionally reminded of an old comedy TV show which made an interesting real estate point. The actor Albert Brooks’ mother passed away and the family was sitting “shiva.”  The only visitors paying their condolences were competing real estate agents.  This was the funny part:  The awkward moments of two aggressive, poor taste realtors trying to gain favor with the family.

The Rockaway real estate community is frequently faced with similar problems. How does the broker get the new listing when a tragedy strikes a family? If the broker makes no effort to obtain the listing will a competitor obtain it first? If the broker tries too hard, will he turn the family off?

On the aforementioned show, Albert Brooks made the wrong choice – he based his choice on looks, not expertise.  He picked the “pretty” one, not the best one.   Although I always try to look good, I also STRIVE to do the best job for my clients.

The solution to the problem is through my advertising in the Rockaway Times, my advertising in both local Stop & Shop Supermarkets and CVS, my internet website, internet search engines, and word of mouth. If you have already made the wrong choice and regret it, then give me a call – the damage is not irreparable. You CAN change brokers. Call me. Love, Robin.
