We Were Heard!
Dear Editor:
Wow, the 11:30 a.m. Mass on Sunday was very exciting! Fr. Rodriguez made a great announcement on Sunday that the bishop has decided to keep St. Camillus open. A priest will be assigned to the parish as the new Administrator to oversee St. Camillus and St. Virgilius in June. How appropriate that the faithful who packed the pews heard this announcement with their own ears.
Our efforts were blessed by the bishop and rewarded by the Lord. We witnessed our own miracle. We are not blind. If you didn’t before, you need to believe that faith and prayer really work. Thank you to the Rockaway community faithful who came together to send the message that we didn’t want another Catholic church closed. We didn’t want St. Camillus to be erased.
While this is great news, our work really begins now. We need to continue to show up and support the growth of St. Camillus. But for now, a big thank you to those who joined us in this effort. A big welcome to those who will join us in the future.
We are moving forward with spiritual and fellowship events. Of course, some fundraising will have to happen as well. Please join the Facebook page Save St. Camillus Church for updates.
Faith In Action!
