A Gust of Support for Autism Awareness

A Gust of Support for Autism Awareness

By Katie McFadden

The wind picked up, but the walk went on! Rockaway Beach Autism Families’ third annual Walk for Autism was a success. On Sunday, April 27, about 100 people gathered at Beach 94th Street to brave the gusts and walk along the boardwalk with their loved ones with autism, many wearing t-shirts to show support. Representatives from St. Camillus Special Olympics and Scholars’ Academy also joined. Due to the winds, a vendor fair after the event was cancelled, but Owen Loof, the Best Dressed Man in Rockaway, stopped by for photos. Congratulations to RBAF founder Kami-Leigh Agard and all of the organizers on a strong show of support for those with autism!
