A Looming Proposal

Dear Editor:

I speak now to every Rockaway resident. If you care about this community at all, you must oppose Alma Realty’s monstrosity of a project they’re currently proposing. Talk to as many residents as possible, call in your favors with higher ups if you know any. Rockaway has too many people here now. This will be the final nail in our coffin. Greedy developers and useless politicians have damaged this community enough already. The last thing needed is upwards of five thousand new residents crammed into three new buildings/blocks after years of construction in the middle of the peninsula.

Alma Realty earns their top ten slumlord spot in the city every year, believe me. I personally have been the victim of Alma’s neglect on several occasions. I’ve been locked in their faulty elevators, I’ve had my car damaged by their construction scaffolding (up for years unnecessarily after construction), and to top it off, I was gassed by their moronic exterminator. These are not competent, compassionate people.

Building on a foundation of sand is tricky. None of the institutions in operation now have my confidence in almost any industry. Everything is rushed and done in a way contrary to safety and reason. I cannot believe this project is up for debate. Alma doesn’t maintain their property now in an acceptable way. Quite the opposite actually.

I don’t know about you, but I am sick and tired of suffering the repercussions of our so-called leaders whose decisions only affect us. These people have no skin in the game. After all running on affordability issues, the city crime council is jacking up every fee, fine, toll, tax they can think of while voting themselves a 20 percent raise. The audacity of these parasites is mind boggling. The people of Rockaway must organize and oppose this project. Any and all suggestions/groups to be formed/actions to be taken should be under consideration ASAP.
