BHPOA Announces Holiday Decorating Contest Winners
It was a very happy holiday celebration at the Harbor Light on Monday, December 22 as Belle Harbor Property Owners Association (BHPOA) presented awards and certificates in its first annual Christmas and Hanukkah home decorating contest. Twenty families were recognized for beautifying their homes this season.

For each street that BHPOA represents (Beach 130th – Beach 141st), one homeowner was awarded a certificate for “Best Decorations on Your Street” from beach to bay. Special recognition certificates and BHPOA sweatshirts were given out in various categories such as Wreaths of Honor (260 Beach 137 Street) and Best “Old School” Decorations (137-04 Rockaway Beach Blvd.)
Prizes were awarded in five categories: Best Decorations for Children (134-16 Cronston Avenue), Best Smaller House Presentation (231 Beach 141st Street), Best Traditional Christmas Decorations (135-02 Rockaway Beach Blvd.), Best Hanukkah Decorations (134-04 Newport Avenue), and Best Overall Holiday Decorations in Belle Harbor (219 Beach 134th Street).

In addition, BHPOA recognized the homes that were most nominated for Christmas (141-02 Newport Avenue) and Hanukkah (253 Beach 136th Street) decorations. In total, more than 60 residents submitted nominations of their neighbors.
“This was a celebration of Belle Harbor, not just a friendly competition,” BHPOA President Paul King said. “Our community has always been made up of neighbors who look out for each other, but who also work hard to keep their homes looking good. Holiday lights are a great demonstration of our commitment to our faith and to each other.”

BHPOA is thankful for the hard work of the committee that made this contest possible. They include Jamie Lynn Datillo, Kelly Vesey and Margaret Powers. The Association is also grateful for the hospitality and service at Harbor Light during the ceremony.
Belle Harbor Property Owners Association wishes all of Rockaway happy and healthy holidays and a prosperous new year.
