Bringing The Little North Pole to Life
Story and Photos
By Katie McFadden
It’s beginning to look a lot like…Christmas? Two days after Halloween, Santa’s little helpers were outside of Joe Mure’s home, bringing the magic to the Little North Pole.
On Saturday, November 2, dozens of volunteers met two tractor trailers at 144-03 Neponsit Ave. as they arrived with the Little North Pole’s decorations from the North Pole itself. The beautiful, sunny weather made it easier to unload the trucks and get to work on transforming the home into the Little North Pole for its 29th year. Volunteers from Rockaway, schools like Adelphi, civil service agencies and more came out to paint, do some heavy lifting and climb up and down ladders to make sure every light bulb is screwed in just right.
Each year, The Little North Pole is lit for the holiday season to raise money for a very important cause—the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation. Mark your calendars as this year’s lighting ceremony for the Little North Pole will be Saturday, December 7.
