 Business Bits

Spring has sprung and so have some new businesses and coming soon signs!

On Friday, April 3, Chef Tracy Obolsky was back in business as Rockaway Beach Bakery opened at its new home inside The Rockaway Hotel at 108-10 Rockaway Beach Dr. She rolled out the dough on her everything ham and Swiss croissants, egg and cheese biscuits, fruit pastries and muffins, along with Afficionado coffees and more. The Bakery is open Tuesday-Sundays starting at 7 a.m. and accessible inside the Hotel or from the Beach 108th entrance.

On March 28, Rockaway’s Soul Kitchen opened up at 264 Beach 116th Street, bringing things like barbecue and fried chicken, ox tail, cat fish and sides like collard greens, mac and cheese, candied yams and more to the block. For a menu and more, see: http://rockawaysoulfood.com/

On April 1, Barbie’s dreamhouse exploded on to Beach 116th as Pilates by Jaqueline opened a completely pink Pilates studio upstairs at 217 Beach 116th Street. With trampoline and Pilates class names inspired by notable female-friendly quotes and sayings inside the spot with bright pink walls and reformer machines, this place will have you saying, “Let’s go girls!” For a schedule and more details, see: www.pilatesbyjacqueline.com

Coming soon down the block, possibly as soon as this weekend, Los Tacos de la Playa will open at 214 Beach 116th Street, bringing tacos and other Mexican dishes to go. It’s in a shared space with Bagel Barista Station, whose owners are behind the new addition. See @los_tacos_116 on Instagram for updates.

A new awning and a coming soon sign have popped up at 421A Beach 129th Street for Banh Mi Bubble Café. Signs indicate Vietnamese cuisine will be coming, a first for the peninsula. It looks like they’ll have banh mi sandwiches, pho, bubble tea drinks and more.

Across the bridge in Broad Channel, a new coming sign soon appeared on the old All American Channel Market at 925 Cross Bay Blvd., which closed earlier this year after facing electricity issues. But something delicious this way comes. Adrienne’s Provisions, brought to you by the same folks who own the bayside Adrienne’s restaurant, will be an Italian market. Think Italian meats, cheeses, fresh pasta, sandwiches and more. See @adriennesprovisions on Instagram for more.

Still to come are the long-awaited Crown Square Pizza at 99-04 Rockaway Beach Blvd., bringing Detroit style slices and more to Rockaway. Also, Grassy Point restaurant and bar at 1802 Cross Bay Blvd. in Broad Channel will be opening after major renovations and new ownership, serving up American cuisine. Hopefully those are open by summer!
