Dear Editor:
In these challenging times, it’s more crucial than ever to elect officials who deliver on their promises, defend our values, and tackle the issues that matter most. Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato has not only done just that, but she’s also been a pillar of integrity and action, pushing for common-sense reforms and consistently advocating for her constituents. This election, voters should ignore the negativity of a perennial candidate and support the re-election of a leader who has consistently worked in the best interests of our community.
Although some choose to lie to the voters, the truth is when a proposal came to the Assembly floor to allocate state resources toward migrants (A8803D), Stacey stood firmly against it and voted no. Her stance reflects her commitment to putting our district’s needs first and ensuring that taxpayer dollars are responsibly allocated. Her no vote sent a clear message: she is dedicated to prioritizing the well-being of her constituents, not bending to political pressures.
Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato has shown steadfast leadership in addressing the flaws in New York’s criminal justice system. Bail reform was initially intended to promote fairness, but it had unintended consequences that led to safety concerns across the state. Recognizing this, Stacey led the charge to revise these laws, supporting changes to roll back the most extreme aspects of bail reform. Her dedication to public safety has been further underscored by her work to increase the pensions for NYPD officers with 25 years or more of service. This focus on enhancing benefits helps not only to retain current officers but also to attract new recruits to the force. This is exactly why Stacey earned the endorsement of every police union and stands as the only candidate of public safety.
Additionally, as Chairwoman of the Assembly’s Governmental Employees Committee, Stacey spearheaded a historic reform of the state’s Tier 6 pension system making it more in line with Tier 4. This shift directly impacts the lives of our teachers, firefighters, nurses, sanitation workers, police officers, and countless other public servants. By adjusting the final average salary calculation from five years to three, she has effectively helped increase retirement security for those who serve our communities daily. This is a powerful testament to her commitment to public workers and her ability to turn policy into meaningful change.
As voters, we must look beyond the noise and focus on the real record. Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato’s actions speak louder than any lies being spread. Her voting record, community engagement and policy achievements show that she is the candidate we can trust. Let’s keep a fighter and champion in Albany by reelecting Stacey Pheffer Amato.
