Concerts to Benefit CYO
Keith Goldberg, Executive Director of CYO of the Diocese of Brooklyn, has announced a series of three concert events as fundraisers for the organization. Proceeds from the concerts will help CYO meet its budgetary needs and potentially allow for additional programming.
The concerts replace previous events, including an annual golf outing, that have not taken place in quite some time. The hope is that the many adults in the diocese who participated in CYO in their youth, as well as parents and coaches of our current athletes, will come out for a great night of music and community at each of the shows.
The first will be Friday, November 15, at St. Francis de Sales in Belle Harbor. On Sunday, November 17, the venue will be St. Patrick in Bay Ridge. The series will wrap up on Friday, November 22, at St. Gregory in Bellerose. All shows begin at 7 p.m. and food and beverages will be available.
The Rock and Roll Doctors will headline the three shows with opening performances by The Pointers at St. Francis, Cat Nip at St. Patrick, and the Rockawades at St. Gregory. The Rock and Roll Doctors is a new collection of outstanding musicians familiar to all in the Rockaways, with Bill Fleming on guitar and vocals, Annette Fleming on percussion and vocals, Bobby Butler playing bass guitar and vocals, Danny Mulvanerty on guitar, Phil Kadet on keyboards and vocals, Mike Severino on drums, and Keith “Bugsy” Goldberg on vocals. They will be performing a tribute to the great band Little Feat, including such classics as “Dixie Chicken,” “All That You Dream,” “Oh Atlanta,” and “Willin’.”
Tickets for each show are $50 and can be purchased on the CYO website: cyodob.org/concerts. Sponsors are also being sought for each show and those interested are asked to email kgoldberg@diobrook.org. Expectations are high for the events both musically and financially, and Goldberg is looking forward to providing a great night for a great cause.
