Enough

 Enough

Dear Editor:

Seriously is ANYONE advocating for Rockaway at all? This place is a perpetual construction site, dumping ground for homeless crackheads, and a city cash register all in one. I swear it’s as if there’s a committee somewhere thinking of new ways of how to ruin this place and make life miserable for the people here. How many goddamn cameras are there actually going to be? How can you overpopulate this place, while simultaneously narrowing our roads, eliminate parking spaces, add more useless bike lanes, stop signs, cameras, etc., etc. This place, in an emergency, isn’t going to be easy to navigate. Every single camera that goes up is a slap in the face to the people here.

The AUDACITY to do ANYTHING other than fix/clean/maintain our sewer system year after year is unacceptable. Every time we have a heavy rain now, people’s lives/homes are going to be ruined? This is the new normal? Where is the outrage? How are you supposed to function in society if there are only checks and balances for us (the commoners)? Remember, the cameras were only supposed to be in school zones at certain times, Covid was a two week shutdown, the toll into Broad Channel was temporary (forty? years ago, etc., etc.). Where is the accountability? The stagnation and corruption have become so engrained into us, it’s becoming routine. People need to come together and declare enough. It’s not supposed to be like this.
