Faith in Action

 Faith in Action

Dear Editor:

The faithful who attended the 11:30 a.m. Sunday Mass at St. Camillus witnessed “extra” Faith in Action. It was a beautiful celebration with Fr. Chuck and Deacon Mike with the music by Jim McCabe. A packed church with familiar and unfamiliar faces, families, children of all ages to get their palms blessed and to receive the Eucharist. But in one moment it all changed with a parishioner needing emergency medical services. Of course, there was panic in the church while the FDNY was on the scene but so was Deacon Mike. In those moments of being scared, the answer was prayer. Deacon Mike started the Rosary – we all started the Rosary. We heard by the end of Mass the parishioner was at the hospital and alive. The power of prayer – can’t stop! A big thank you to the FDNY for their speedy response and effort.

After Mass, we made our way to Springman Hall for our first coffee and cake fellowship gathering. It was a beautiful way to continue our Palm Sunday celebration. To connect with each other on another level and to thank God we have St. Camillus Church.

I would also like to thank once again the different organizations that continue to work with the Parish for its success: Knights of Columbus 2672 Rockaway Beach, Columbiettes, Rockaway AOH/LAOH, St. Camillus Special Olympics, St. Camillus-St. Virgilius CYO and Intramural Sports Program, Rockaway WISH and a special thank you to The Graybeards for also sponsoring the after Mass coffee/cake gathering.

Like all planned events, you need a good crew of people to volunteer to pull it off. St. Camillus has the best Hospitality Team. Thank you very much.

We asked you to email Bishop Brennan to help in keeping St. Camillus open. We now encourage you to write a grateful thank you email to him. His email address is Bishopofbrooklyn@diobrook.org
