Flags Raised Ahead of Memorial Day

With Memorial Day this Monday, more than 200 American flags were mounted along Rockaway Beach Boulevard, Newport Avenue, and Cronston Avenue thanks to the hard work and dedication of local volunteers. The flags were paid for by the Graybeards and hung throughout the week by Rob Hickey, Jimmy Mullen, John Mullen, and others, who put in countless hours to help make the annual tradition happen. Thank you for adding a patriotic touch to the community as Rockaway prepares to honor those who made the ultimate sacrifice in service to our country. Anyone interested in contributing to the hanging of the flags can mail a donation to the Graybeards office at 129-04 Newport Ave.
