More than 200 people brought their appetites to The Rockaway Hotel on Saturday, November 2, for the first annual Rockaway Food Festival.
The beautiful weather allowed the Hotel to open their doors from the ballroom to the outdoor patio, allowing guests to grab a bite and enjoy the sunshine. Ticket holders were able to grab bites from 11 restaurants including Adrienne’s, Batesy’s, Bungalow Bar, Crustinos, Happy Jacks, Meat Up Grill, Margie’s, Pico, Rocco’s of Roc Beach, Smoke & Barrel, and Tap That. From slider sandwiches to tacos, fresh tuna bites, salads, pot pies and wings, pasta bowls and even a full-sized Bavarian pretzel, nobody went hungry at this food extravaganza.
All guests were treated to a welcome drink and some restaurants offered bonus beverages, like Bungalow Bar giving samples of their huckleberry iced tea mixed with lemonade, Margie’s giving Irish Coffees, Adrienne’s pouring limoncello shots and Vino by the Sea offering wine samples.
In between bites, guests were able to burn a few calories dancing to Wine with Sue, which played throughout the event.
The day was a perfect opportunity for the community and local businesses to gather, and let Rockaway know that it isn’t just a summer town, with great restaurants open all year. Rockaway Hotel co-owner Terence Tubridy said, “It was an amazing day bringing everyone together in one place with incredibly people.” Tubridy hopes to make it an annual event, with the possibility of more community food events in the works.
