Freeze for a Reason April 6
This weekend, many locals will be freezin’ for a reason. The Special Olympics New York Polar Plunge is this Saturday, April 6.
This Saturday, grab your friends, family and co-workers and take a dip into the chilly Atlantic for a good cause. The Special Olympics Polar Plunge is taking place on Beach 94th Street on Saturday. Registration will take place from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. and the plunge will take place at 11 a.m. You can join as a team or as an individual.
All proceeds raised go toward Special Olympics New York programs. Several teams and individuals have already hit the ground running in their fundraising efforts. As we go to press, the top fundraising team so far with nearly $6,000 raised are the Cross County Plungers. Behind them are Team Grandma Lanza with nearly $2,500, and the Polar Bares with nearly $2,200. The top individual is Alex Burnazian with $1,480, followed by Daniel Chang with $1,388.
Think you can beat them? Take the plunge and raise some funds! It looks like Saturday will be about 50 degrees out, with the water temperature at about 45 degrees. Brave the waves and take a dip for Special Olympics!
