Freezin’ For a Reason for Special Olympics
It was a sunny spring day on Saturday, March 21, making for prime conditions for a chilly polar plunge into the ocean for Special Olympics’ annual Freezin’ for a Reason.

Dozens of people from near and far jumped into the water on Beach 94th Street to raise money for Special Olympics New York, so they can continue the great programming they offer for special needs athletes. More than $33K was raised through the event, with the top fundraising team being the Cross Island Plungers, raising nearly $9,500, followed by the Polar Bares raising more than $5K and Amanda’s Team Chill Out raising more than $2,600. The top individual, Ravak Mahdavi of the Cross Island Plungers, raised $1,840, followed by his teammate Jonathan Reichler who raised $1,450 and Caroline Chevat who raised $1,260. Congratulations to all!
